This valuable experience of language-to-language text production involving many contributors has taught us to develop a range of effective work routines – all and how to keep cool under pressure. Many of our assignments, such as the Norwegian Art Yearbook and the Momentum catalogues, amount complex processes requiring frequent dialogue with many people (editors, artists, critics, art historians etc.) and the careful coordination of diverse forms of text (articles, reviews, work lists, events calendars etc.). We have extensive experience from close cooperation on projects involving the translation and quality control of texts about every aspect of fine art. We have been principal translators for the Norwegian Art Yearbook since 2004, and have translated the catalogues for the art biennial Momentum in 2004, 2006, and 2009. Our regular clients include Norway’s National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Henie Onstad Art Centre, Bergen Kunsthall, and Public Art Norway (KORO). We accept all kinds of commissions within the field, from brief exhibition presentations to full-scale catalogue productions and books, and have translated for most of the major art institutions in Norway. Our clients are primarily Norwegian artists and art institutions. The Wordwrights translates texts about art, crafts, architecture, theatre, dance, art history, and philosophy. The firm is registered in Norway as a general partnership (Norwegian: ansvarlig selskap, or ANS) with two partners, Peter Cripps and Ika Kaminka. The Wordwrights ANS was founded in 2001 as a translation bureau specialising in the translation of texts for the professional art sector, to and from Norwegian and English.
